Crazy Rap

colt 45 and two zig zags, baby, that's all we need
we can go to the park after dark, smoke that tumbleweed
and as the marijuana burns we can take our turns
singing them dirty rap songs stop and hit the bong
like cheech and chong, sell tapes from here to hong kong
so roll, roll, roll my joint, pick out the seeds and stems
feelin' high as hell flyin' through palm dale, skatin' on dayton rims
so roll, roll the '83 cadillac coup de ville
If my tapes and my cd's just don't sell, I bet my caddy will

Bar Blues

revisit this old place
my low familiar stool
her disarming face
i'm just a customer
its better off this way
when i'm just a customer
here i sit alone
our common conversation
makes me feel at home
am i a customer
when i don't feel the same
am i a customer
don't hurt me now, don't hurt me later
don't hurt me now, don't hurt me later
if you come around, please be my savior
don't hurt me now, don't hurt me later
again my eyes are glazed
she knows my usual
can i still say my name
i'm just a customer
its better off this way
when i'm just a customer
don't hurt me now, don't hurt me later
don't hurt me now, don't hurt me later
if you come around, please be my savior
don't hurt me now, don't hurt me later

Sunshine
08:13
|

now i got all of this sunshine, i got all of this rain
and i feel that sometimes they might be the same
i keep them in this glass jar by my bedside
when i take things too far, fear i wont survive
and now she lays beside me, my new found drug
with her arms around me i feel like love
then i kiss her smiling as she walks away
leaving me infected, feel sunshine today
feel sunshine today, sunshine today
now i got all of this sunshine, ain't got no rain
when each breath that we take, they feel new again

Open Country

give me open country give me high grass in the plains
fields of home, now well over grown
moving west bound through the mountains
narrow passes that we take
touch the sky, if only for a while
we are born upon the wind, take me everywhere you blow
so these things that I have forgotten again I'll come to know
all these things that I have forgotten again I'll come to know
breath in the pacific taste the salt that's in the air
the water moves the blood that's in my veins
all these faces, features, places frame the landscape in my head
i dream of days when we'll return again
we are born upon the wind, take me everywhere you blow
so these things that I have forgotten again I'll come to know
all these things that I have forgotten again I'll come to know
we are brothers in this journey won't you take me by the hand
guide me home, wherever you may call
and if I fall wound you please catch me before I hit then ground
we are one or we are not at all
we are born upon the wind, take me everywhere you blow
so these things that I have forgotten again I'll come to know
all these things that I have forgotten again I'll come to know

Western Songs
05:08
|
|||
the warm smell of whiskey three fingers high
two hearts in my chest by which I abide
one for the future and one that passed by
pour me one more for this old steel guitar
that cried all the tears that I couldn't thus far
sing for me now it's not so hard
basement speakeasies and old honky-tonks
sing me old western songs if right and wrong
of cowboys who've died but there soul lives on
won't you dear dj take me to the past
spin that old vinyl of mr. cash
light from the fire long shadows cast
like souls in a dance won't you spin me around
till I buzz and I blur and my legs give out
put a smile on my face let me fall to the ground
and sing me old western songs
take me on back to my home for some rest
head on hard pillow and hands on my chest
today they told me
forget all the rest
pour me one more 'fore I lay down to sleep
for stardom and kind love and insane belief
deliver me morning with relief
like souls in a dance won't you spin me around
till I buzz and I blur and my legs give out
put a smile on my face let me fall to the ground
and sing me old western songs
take me on back to my home for some rest
head on hard pillow and hands on my chest
today I know that
i did my best

Painting
11:07
|
|||
as i take these long brush strokes it worries me
i cannot see this painting of me
we look between the lines, empty space we might find
fill in the holes, take up our roles
in this society, the one that lets me live free
restricts us all, the structure we call
love of a family while pop culture casualties
wander alone or look for a home
its just our willingness, belief that we might exist
beyond this charade of love and decay
accomplish our greatest feat before our painting's complete
so we might sustain beyond our days
knowing that i might go any time, life is short
live for whats now with your feet on the ground
but my heads in the cloud, up too high don't look down
reach for the prize, hope i'm surprised
its just our willingness, belief that we might exist
beyond this charade of love and decay
accomplish our greatest feat before our painting's complete
so we might sustain beyond our days
